Convergys Corporation solutions to lower IT costs and launch services for Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited

Convergys Corporation (NYSE:CVG), which provides relationship management solutions, revealed yesterday (22 April) that a multi-year licensing, support and maintenance contract for the company's Infinys rating and billing solution has been signed by Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and the company.

Tata Consultancy Services, an IT services, Business Solutions and Outsourcing firm, will provide project management, testing and data migration, solution definition, configuration, installation and business requirement analysis, as needed when the solution is being delivered.

The solution is a real-time charging product that supports IP and IMS network technologies, convergent and online charging and next-generation business models. Additionally, the solution will help BSNL lower IT costs by utilising a distributed open source platform and limiting the need for custom system or application development.

BSNL is the world's 7th largest telecommunications company providing a range of telecom services such as Wireline, CDMA mobile, GSM Mobile, Internet, Broadband, Carrier service, MPLS-VPN, VSAT, VoIP services, IN Services and others. It is a public sector unit in India, with 17.8m cellular customers, 24% of all mobile users as its subscribers. In basic services, BSNL has 35.1m basic phone subscribers or 85% share of the subscriber base and 92% share in revenue terms, in India.
