LSI SAS/SATA RAID chosen by Fujitsu Siemens Computers for PRIMERGY servers

LSI Corporation (LSI) (NYSE: LSI), a provider of silicon, systems and software technologies, announced on Monday (21 January) that Fujitsu Siemens Computers, a European IT provider, has selected LSI MegaRAID and Integrated RAID (IR) Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) / Serial ATA (SATA) data protection technology across its next-generation mono and dual socket Modular RAID PRIMERGY family of servers.

According to the company, PRIMERGY servers will feature a range of hardware- and software-based SAS/SATA products from LSI, including an eight-port modular RAID-on-Chip to provide customers with high-performing server and storage subsystem solutions. Other LSI storage solutions selected by Fujitsu Siemens include a chipset-based SATA device and an LSISAS1068E controller with integrated RAID 0, 1 and 1E capabilities.

Fujitsu Siemens Computers' new line of modular RAID PRIMERGY rack and tower servers reportedly enable customers to select host CPU-based RAID 0, 1, 10 and 5 for SATA hard disk drives (HDDs); LSISAS1068E-based integrated RAID 0, 1 and 1E for SAS and SATA HDDs; or LSI SAS1078 ROC-based RAID 0, 1, 10, 5 and 6 for SAS and SATA HDDs.
