Internet company Yahoo! Inc (Nasdaq:YHOO) and McAfee Inc (NYSE:MFE), a dedicated security technology company, announced on Tuesday (6 May) that the companies have entered into a partnership to make web search more secure for users.
The new SearchScan, which is available immediately in beta, is featured by Yahoo! Search and powered by McAfee SiteAdvisor technology. It reportedly provides always-on alerts to users for 'risky' sites with security concerns such as spyware, adware and other malicious software that can infect and damage a user's PC.
In addition SearchScan also identifies sites that have shown bad e-mail practices, flooding user in-boxes with spam e-mails.
