Telefonica O2 Germany accelerates mobile data network

Telecomms operator Telefonica O2 Germany GmbH & Co has announced the acceleration of the company' s mobile data network based on HSPA .

According to the company, O2 is to provide customers the new technology in the second half of the year 2009. HSPA enables the download of data at a transfer rate of 28Mb/s and the upload at 5.76Mb/s.

The launch of the new technology will take place in Munich, Germany. In May 2009 the company will start a friendly user test in Munich. Huawei Technologies will deliver the appropriate technology and a surf stick for mobile web surfing.

No financial details were disclosed.
