Huawei Technologies (Huawei), a provider of next-generation telecomms network solutions, and telecomms company Telefonica announced on Friday (6 February) the signing of a framework contract to deploy a new 'Service Delivery Platform' (SDP) serving all countries in Telefonica's Latin American region.
According to the company, the SDP, scheduled to be commercially launched during the first half of 2009, unifies the delivery of value-added services and facilitates the process of implementing new services, including worldwide universal e-mail, mobile newspapers, 3G messaging solutions or advertising on mobile phones. The platform opens the possibility of offering convergence services for both fixed and mobile networks, as well as for residential and enterprise markets. It is expected to reduce time-to-market, operational expenditure (OPEX) and capital investments (CAPEX) related costs.
