CORPORATE IT UPDATE-(C)1995-2009 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

Ping Europe, a manufacturer of golf clubs, has selected Databarracks, a provider of secure on-line backup services, to help protect its information systems.

According to the company, Ping has a UNIX Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system and various other e-mail and application servers, which were backed up to tape. The UNIX system meant that the company was using a legacy backup solution. Databarracks was chosen after searching for the best on-line backup solution and a proof-of-concept, which included a test restore of the company's ERP system.

Databarracks uses a combination of Asigra software with Netapp hardware and the Bunker, a tier 4 data centre in Kent, UK, to deliver a managed backup service to its enterprise customers based in the UK and worldwide.

No financial details were disclosed.
