FAA gives RFID its wings

Frontline Solutions, May, 2005

The Federal Aviation Administration has decided to allow the use of passive RFID tags on airplanes, according to John Dimtroff, an aerospace electronics engineer at the FAA. Speaking at the RFID Journal LIVE! conference this spring, Dimtroff said an official report on the technology was expected in late April. The decision comes on the heels of onboard tests run by Boeing and Airbus, who both want to use RFID to track airplane parts.
