Military tests wearable technology

Frontline Solutions, July, 2004

Mechanics with the 116th Air Control Wing at Robins Air Force Base are testing wearable computers from Xybernaut Corp. for an aircraft maintenance application. The group is responsible for the Joint STARS surveillance aircraft, and it tested the computers for eight months in various inspection, maintenance, and repair applications. Using software from Northrop Grumman, mechanics have access to technical and support information. They can also send e-mails, search the Internet, and order parts online.
