Mammoth Numbers

Cable World, March 20, 2000

Nothing like content that's 20,000 years old. The Discovery Channel rewrote the documentary cable ratings books last week with a mammoth 7.8 rating for its Raising the Mammoth special March 12.

The 10.1 million people that watched all or part of the special from 8-10 p.m. (ET) easily shattered Discovery's best rating numbers.

In fact, the Mammoth special outdistanced NBC's Donnie Brasco and WB's Sunday night television lineup.

All that and we never even got to see much of the mammoth, other than some hair sticking out. We guess the unveiling will come with the next Discovery special.
