WORLDGATE DEALS

WorldGate Communications last week announced two major deals aimed at strengthening its VOD services. The company announced a joint project with Concurrent Computer Corp., DIVA Systems Corp. and nCUBE Corp. to develop integrated World-Gate Service and VOD products for the Motorola Inc. DCT-series of set-top boxes. WorldGate also forged a pact with Sea-Change International to integrate SeaChange's VOD services with World-Gate's Internet on EVERY TVSM Service with compatibility to run on Motorola's DCT boxes.

OPENTV SCORES

A pair of European electronics makers have signed agreements to license OpenTV operating systems for their digital set-top boxes. Philips Digital Networks BV and Nokia Multimedia Terminals Oy will use EN2, the company's next-generation of interactive software developed in part after the company's recent merger with Spyglass Inc.

GETTING INTENSE

3Dlabs Inc. Ltd. has snapped up the assets of Intense 3D, a subsidiary of the Intergraph Corp. in a stock transaction. The deal, expected to close in the 2Q, will strengthen 3Dlabs product line of graphics and digital media accelerators for electronics manufacturers including Compaq Computer, Hewlett-Packard Co. and NEC USA.
