Is Bundling An Answer?

Cable World, July 15, 2002

Byline: JONATHAN BLUM, ANALYST, KAGAN WORLD MEDIA

Cable operators are placing high hopes on bundled services. And early returns are promising: Cox is seeing a .8% reduction in churn for the subscribers who take video, data and telephony. However, the three services are available in only a few markets. So getting to scale with the concept will take years. This long deployment runway will test the patience of investors. They worry that the high capital expenditures needed to offer bundled products will put a further drag on depressed cable valuations.
