TWO MORE SVOD DEALS FOR STARZ

Charter Communications and Insight Communications have signed subscription video-on-demand contracts with Starz Encore Group. The MSOs join Adelphia Communications in offering SVOD product from Starz.

THREE FREE MONTHS OFFERED BY DISH

EchoStar Communications' Dish Network is offering new customers three free months of its Value Pak service, which includes 132 channels of expanded basic programming as well as 13 channels of HBO and Cinemax. The package usually costs $50 a month. The promotion is available for customers that participate in Dish Network's free dish or digital home plan promotions.

VENTURA FLEXES IN 'HERO' SEGMENT

Jesse Ventura quietly made his debut last week as MSNBC's newest on-air personality. The former wrestler/Minnesota governor hosted a five-minute segment, "Jesse's Hero of the Week," about a California mother who saved a stranger's life. Ventura's spot will air Thursdays at 8 p.m. while the network continues developing his live (and harder-hitting) show based in the Midwest.

NAMATH THROWS LONG FOR FINE LIVING

Fine Living will run a different one-hour special - such as 10 Perfect Summer Getaways - each Sunday at 9 p.m. from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Also on its summer schedule is the Summer Beach House Giveaway sweepstakes, which kicks off July 1, the launch date for the five-part series The Perfect Summer Party. A July 4 marathon includes Born American, hosted by Joe Namath at 9 p.m.

TENNIS IN PLAY

The Tennis Channel officially launched Thursday with carriage to about 3 million subscribers via Time Warner Cable and Cox Communications.

ADULT THICKET NAVIGATED BY PRINCETON

A new consulting company, Princeton Management Group, will be offering its services this spring to cable operators and satellite providers seeking to filter out overly explicit pornography. Started by former Playboy Television Network executive Shirley Rohn-Saito, Princeton will advise distributors on what to pay for adult channels, what to charge consumers and on suitable levels of explicitness.
