Pictures From a Exhibition

Cable World, June 18, 2001

From Mel Karmazin to Playboy centerfolds, our photographers got an eyeful

Many attendees remarked that Cable 2001, last week's National Cable & Telecommunications Association convention in Chicago, lacked sizzle. Attendance was down, parties seemed subdued, and stars were few and far between. But industry leaders still puzzled over issues during panel sessions, schmoozed the media during parties and receptions, and found after-hours diversions. And we know- we've got photographic evidence.

[1] THE HARD SELL

Game Show Network appealed to passersby with impromptu game shows and stunts.

[2] SING, SING, SING

Members of the Chicago Children's Choir performed before Wednesday's final session, when CNN's Larry King interviewed his boss, AOL Time Warner CEO Gerald Levin.

[3] ALL DONE

On the last day of the show, NCTA boss Robert Sachs took questions from reporters. Sachs singled out appearances by Sen. Tom Daschle and House Speaker Dennis Hastert as highlights of the four-day convention.
