No Power Shift In Sight

Cable World, July 28, 2003

Byline: IAN OLGEIRSON, KAGAN

A soft economy is putting a damper on the prospects of the return of double-digit growth in cable advertising revenue in 2003 as operators forecast a mixed bag of results in the first half of the year. Despite gains in local ad insertion technology, the splits between local and national advertising revenue have held relatively steady at 25/75 for more than a decade. Though local grew at twice the rate of national ads in 2002, it's too early to signal the possibility of a shift in the historic balance.
