New Qwest for Doug Seserman

Cable World, Sept 3, 2001 by K.C. Neel

Doug Seserman is back--well, kind of.

Seserman, who left AT&T Broadband last spring as the company's top marketing guru, has been named chief marketing officer at Qwest Digital Media.

The company, which started out streaming news feeds and events--such as the most recent Woodstock concert--to broadcast outlets via the Internet, has shifted its emphasis toward business-to-business relationships by providing services including videoconferencing and webcasting with interactive components using Qwest Communications International's broadband pipelines.

Qwest Digital Media is a venture partnership between billionaire Philip Anschutz and Qwest Communications International. Seserman is charged with expanding Qwest Digital Media's opportunities in the B2B arena.

"We believe the whole nascent business market will explode," Seserman says. "We want to help businesses become more productive with their communications."

Seserman figures he can utilize the skills he developed at Quaker Oats and TCI/AT&T Broadband to expand the B2B opportunities at Qwest Digital Media.

And he expects some of Qwest Digital Media's business to come from the cable and entertainment businesses.

Seserman says he misses the cable industry and the people he knows, but notes that he'll likely be contacting a lot of people he worked with before too long.

"A number of our products and services will meet the needs of cable/telecom companies, programmers and vendors," he says.
