NBA TV WARMS UP
This week sees the debut of Real Training Camp With the Denver Nuggets on NBA TV; the weekly reality series will debut at 6 p.m. ET on Oct. 10 and run every Friday through Nov. 7. Similar miniseries will be produced for NBA All-Star Weekend and the NBA playoffs. NBA TV Insiders starts next month along with other new shows - The Ref, Virtual GM Presented by Gatorade, Basketballographies and Hot New Products - hitting the court.
BEATS ROAST BEEF
The eighth season of MTV Cribs starts tonight with a peek at Shaquille O'Neal's pad. The network's new Sunday lineup starts Oct. 26; the Sunday Stew block brings a new season of Punk'd at 9 p.m. and new series Viva La Bam at 9:30 p.m., Wildboyz at 10 p.m. and One Bad Trip at 10:30 p.m. Kid sis diginet Nicktoons is developing a junior version of Punk'd and three other series for '04; new GM Keith Dawkins is steering the slate.
ALSO TIPPING OFF
Today's episode of TLC's A Makeover Story features volunteers with Cable Positive's Philly chapter. HBO2 presents three documentaries on the impact of war - the Oscar-nominated War Photographer, The Struma and Child Soldiers - over three consecutive nights starting tonight. The Golf Channel's first reality series, The Big Break, also tees off on Oct. 7.
OVER AT RAINBOW
The all-music, all-the-time interactive channel that is Fuse is getting busy this fall as the exclusive music partner for two of fall's top tours: The Drive-Thru Records Invasion Tour and the Nokia Unwired Tour. The network will promote both tours during shows such as IMX: Interactive Music Xchange and with contests, streaming video and tour info online at www.fuse.tv.
SCRIPPS SHARES
HGTV craft series Simply Quilts and The Carol Duvall Show are now running on DIY, its sister network at Scripps. HGTV also extended Restore America: A Salute to Preservation, its public affairs initiative saving America's historic sites, through the end of 2005. The network returns as sponsor of the 2004 Salute to Preservation Gala.
COLLEGE SPORTS GOES WIDE
CSTV's live telecast of yesterday's Pride Bowl Sprint Football game between Army and Navy was carried overseas on the American Forces Network to 178 countries and territories, the first-ever AFN telecasts of the intense service academy rivalry. The network on Friday dropped the puck on Friday Night Hockey, its college game-of-the-week package, and premiered new series Coach with a tribute to Herb Brooks, the Hall of Fame coach who died in August.
