GCI to deploy gear from cadant in Alaska

Cable World, Dec 3, 2001

> Multichannel service operator GCI said it will use in Alaska early next year the Cadant C4 cable modem termination system (CMTS) and Cadant's G2 IHS management software as it rolls out one of the first tiered data deployments in North America taking advantage of the DOCSIS 1.1 specifications. GCI will initially use the DOCSIS 1.1 equipment to offer data services, but it is also evaluating the C4 CMTS as an option to support a transition to Internet protocol telephony from its current traditional hard-switch service.
