A NEW LAUNCH

Launch.com is getting ready to present streaming video clips on a broadband-only site dubbed LaunchCity. Using streaming media systems from partner Media 100 Inc., the shockwave-powered site will feature music videos for broadband Internet subs. Media 100 and its subsidiary, Terran Interactive, will provide Launch.com in-house editing and streaming tools for the video content.

WHO WEARS THE CROWN?

Who owns the title "King of the Net?" At the World Economic Forum in Switzerland last week AOL Inc. chairman Stephen Case and Viacom Inc. chairman Sumner Redstone didn't see eye-to-eye as to what will drive the Internet market's future. Case said the key is in offering the connection and getting people access to the Internet, through a phone, TV or other device. Redstone disagreed, arguing that the people Case is targeting really want entertainment, not fancy hardware.
