Laurus to trim its format? - Brief Article

Eurofood, August 31, 2000

Laurus, the second largest food retailer in the Netherlands looks set to restructure its store network, which could include a reduction in the number of fascia under which the group operate, from eight to around three. Laurus currently has a total of 1 369 outlets across the Netherlands, with four stores in Belgium, and two in Spain.

Analysts are undecided as to which fascias will become obsolete, but have often criticised the Dutch company for keeping so many fascia on. The better known outlets in the Netherlands are the Konmar and Super De Boer chains. The company generates around 75% of its sales in its homeland.
