Omsa profits boosted by strong exports - Omsa Alimentacion S.A - Brief Article

Eurofood, Feb 17, 2000

Omsa Alimentacion, the Spanish meat group, has reported profits of Pta1.1bn (??6.6m) for 1999, a 25.3% increase on the previous year. The company said that a period of stability in raw material prices and an increase in export sales were the main reasons for the strong profit growth. Turnover for the year increased by 40% to Pta39.2bn.

Omsa maintained its high level of investment throughout 1999, ploughing more than Pta1bn back into its operations. The money was spent on new production equipment in order to help increase capacity, which in turn raised productivity by 12% during the year. With increasing consumption and continued price stability expected for 2000, Omsa is predicting an 8.5% increase in sales this year to Pta42.5bn.
