UK Snackhouse "not looking for buyer" - company denies reports - Brief Article

Snackhouse, the UK-based crisp and snacks manufacturer has said it is not for sale, despite widespread reports to the contrary.

Rumours were abound that Scottish-based business man Tom Hamilton was putting together a 20m [pounds sterling] (33.3m [European Dollar]) bid for Snackhouse, formerly known as Benson Crisps (see Eurofood, 19 July 2001, p9).

Snackhouse which has recently released disappointing figures for the half-year period to 31 May, has said it is not on the market. Managing director of the snack maker, Denis Heywood said, "We have not received any approaches, and the board is confident of returning to profitability. We are certainly not looking for a buyer."
