Autogrill expanding activities - Brief Article

Eurofood, Feb 1, 2001

Italian fast-food chain Autogrill, more noted for its restaurants for travellers, is planning expansion in the cities, including possible excursion into pizza home delivery.

Under a new chief executive officer, the Benetton-controlled Autogrill is about to open a major Burger King outlet in Rome and then go to southern Italy, having set aside some Lit170bn ([euro]87.7m) for the expansion of 150 Burger King outlets, and Spizzico units.

As for home delivery, experiments have already begun in some urban areas in the north, following success of pizza home deliveries by Tipico and Pizza Runner.
