Norway lifts ban on whale exports - Brief Article

Eurofood, Feb 1, 2001

Norway has announced that it is to lift the ban on whale meat exports. Norway defied a global memoratum on whale hunting by resuming catching Minke whales. The ministry of fisheries in Norway said that there was no scientific evidence to support claims that Minke whales are close to extinction. In fact, the ministry claims that they are rising.

Norway's main export markets are Japan, Iceland and Peru.
