Eurofood, March 29, 2001
A distraught young woman described how she was left covered in dog food following what she thought was a bomb going off. The freak accident, occurred at a UK Tesco store, was in fact a can of dog food which exploded, perhaps with frustration at being left on the shelf in preference for the cat food the woman had just picked up.

The young women told UK newspaper The Daily Telegraph, "After I screamed, I opened my eyes to discover a big tin of Winalot dog meat had exploded and quite literally coated me in the stuff." Tesco sent the dog food drenched woman home with a bottle of Merlot and a bottle of champagne, as well as paying a dry cleaning bill. Tesco provided its explanation for the accident, saying that the tin's airtight container must have been pierced, leaving the food to go off.
