Czech pasta firm to enter Russia - Bratri Zatkove - Brief Article

Eurofood, Oct 11, 2001

Bratri Zatkove of the Czech Republic, one of that country's largest pasta-makers, intends to enter the Russian market, according to co-owner Michal Mitka. The Russian market's prospects are attractive, and "we are confident that we will find our own niche here," Mitka explained.

Bratri Zatkove is in the process of seeking out partners in Russia. How much product will be exported to Russia will depend on the contracts that get signed, Mitka noted, adding that his company would be able to provide "substantial deliveries."

The Czech company is able to turn out 2 500 tonnes of pasta and 5 500t of flour per month. It currently ships around 100t per month to the three Baltic States.

Bratri Zatkove was founded in 1884 in the Vltava River valley near the town of Ceske Budejowice. The plant is now turning out 85 different kinds of pasta and flour products. The company commands 25% of the Czech Republic's market for pasta products.
