Kamps/Barilla reports dismissed - Brief Article

Eurofood, Sept 27, 2001

German bakery chain Kamps has once again dismissed reports that it is in talks with Italian pasta manufacturer Barilla regarding a possible joint venture and share swap.

A Kamps spokesman said that the group had denied the rumours first time round two weeks ago and claimed that nothing new had happened since, according to Reuters.

Quoting sources within the company, the German Manager Magazin most recently reported that Barilla was intending to buy a 25% shareholding in Kamps and in a countermove bring in crisp bread producer Wasa.

Kamps denies that this is the case.
