Eurofood, Sept 27, 2001

Global consumer goods giants Unilever and Proctor & Gamble (P&G) have reached an agreement regarding P&G's competitive intelligence operation against Unilever in the US.

P&G attempted to spy on Unilever's haircare activities in the US. Unilever United States president and chief executive officer Charles B. Strauss said, "We have a settlement that ensures that our confidential information is protected. With this agreement, we are confident that Proctor & Gamble's conduct will not impede the continued growth of our brands here. This agreement draws to a close what has been an unfortunate incident."

Details of the agreement between the two giants were not disclosed.
