Poltavakonditer builds new plant - for confectionery production - Brief Article - Statistical Data Included

Ukrainian confectionery firm Poltavakonditer has begun building new facilities in the town of Poltava that will be able to turn out 29 000 tonnes of product per year, or the equivalent to 120t per day.

Deputy director at the enterprise Volodymyr Plaksy told Interfax that the construction should be completed by the end of this year.

The plan is for three new sites producing of chocolate and chocolate goods, hard candy and flour-based goods.

When the new plant is up and running, Poltavakonditer will boost its confectionery output to 40 000t per year, which will allow the company to become one of Ukraine's largest confectioners. The company is currently able to produce 21 680t per year.

Funding for the building is coming from the US company Sigma Bleizer, which owns 90% of the Poltavakonditer. Poltava was founded in 1991.

The enterprise turned out 10 888t of confectionery product in the first half of this year, 18.4% more than in the first half of last year.
