Thorntons full year trading in line - Company News - Thorntons PLC reports improved sales - Brief Article

Just prior to the annual general meeting of the UK-based speciality retailer Thorntons, chairman John Thornton, announced improved trading results for the first 17 weeks of the current year.

"At the time of publishing the annual report in early September, own shop like for like sales were above last year in each of the first 9 weeks and by 6.8% in total. Since then this general trend has continued all other areas of the business are, overall, in line with management expectations," commented Thornton.

The first 17 weeks of the year represent approximately 20% of annual sales for Thorntons, with the key selling period over the Christmas season.
