Eurofood, Nov 7, 2002

One of Turkey's leading confectionery makers, Kent Gida, has posted a net profit of TuL5.3 trillion (3.16m [euro]) for the first nine months of 2002.

This compares to a net loss of some TuL22.2 trillion for the corresponding period of 2001, according to its unaudited results in October.

The results show a marked improvement for the company, which was acquired by the UK confectionery and soft drink giant Cadbury-Schweppes earlier in the year.

Kent had posted a net loss of TuL1.8 trillion in the first half of 2002, compared to a net loss of TuL17.6 trillion for the first half of 2001, according to Turkish News Digest.
