Biodiesel in Asda delivery trucks - Food Retailing - ASDA Group PLC to fuel delivery trucks wth biodiesel - Brief Article

Eurofood, Nov 7, 2002

From January 2003, UK supermarket chain Asda is to use biodiesel for its delivery trucks of up to 40 tonnes in Tyneside and Yorkshire. The trucks will carry the slogan--`This vehicle is powered by chicken fat'.

Asda produces over 50 million litres of used cooking oil and 138 000 litres of waste frying fat a year from its canteens, restaurants and rotisseries.

This waste material will now be processed by Envirodiesel of Doncaster, South Yorkshire, for use in Asda's vehicles.
