Low-carb. by Robert C. Atkins,M.D
Entrepreneur, Dec, 2003 by Devlin Smith
Sparked by the late 1990s rerelease of Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution (Avon Books) by Robert C. Atkins, M.D., low-carb diets are still a major topic of interest online, in print and nearly everywhere else. Restaurants, grocery stores and food manufacturers are altering menus, adding products of dedicating entire lines to the carb-wary. The interest in low carb items has also been a boost for many classic products; Hunn's Private Stock Pickles, for example, are gaining popularity as people seek crunchy snacks minus the carbs.
Whoa ... That's Lo! The Low Carb, Low Sugar Superstore opened in Silver Spring, Maryland, earlier this year offering customers snacks, meals, treats and supplements to fit their low-carb needs. The company projects first-year sales of $300,000.
