Exploring The Web
Entrepreneur, July, 1999 by Cassandra Cavanab
Microsoft beat Netscape to the punch by shipping a new version of its browser before Netscape could. With Internet Explorer 5.0, Microsoft has opted to keep it simple: The goal with this version was to create a program that's easily digestible by both novices and experts. There are more dialog boxes to explain the glitches users find as they navigate the Web.
In addition, the installation program can be as simple or as complex as you desire, allowing you to select from basic to advanced functionality. Searches are made easier by allowing users to enter keywords when browsing for a Web site, leading you to the closest-matched URL. Internet Explorer 5.0 is also working hard to alleviate your typing fingers when filling out repetitive forms by providing drop-downs that let you choose previously-typed answers. Requirements include 16MB RAM and 45MB hard-drive space. Download a free copy for yourself at www.microsoft.com.
