The World at Bedside

Health Management Technology, Oct, 2001 by Dave Hampton

Looking to the future, James Brindley School plans to expand the role of videoconferencing, both within and beyond the hospital walls. Administrators hope that all 12 of the school's sites are video-linked by 2003 and that they can upgrade the school's current system by offering dual camera access and deploy next-generation integrated collaboration technology.

By linking to Globalpie.co.uk, the school also hopes to offer a regular series of lessons and a weekly or semi-monthly news service, based around the particular needs of its pupils. Other technologies, such as Internet-based learning hardware, are under consideration. As a pioneer in this kind of education, the James Brindley School hopes to serve as a resource to other institutions implementing similar programs.
