American Medical Software (AMS) has added a new module to their Windows-based Practice Management Software System. This new module offers portability to the physician incorporating handheld technology on the Pocket PC/Windows CE platform. Physicians can download their appointments and encounter form table from the AMS system to their handheld Pocket PC. As patients are seen an electronic encounter can be created by selecting the appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes pertinent to the visit, as well as any other notes or comments. Information on new patients who are not already in the AMS database may also be added. After the patient visit, information can be uploaded from the handheld back into the AMS system where a report is generated featuring all the necessary data for creating charges, adding notes or new patients.
