MediLinks PDA is a browser-based version of MediLinks designed for small handheld devices such as PDAs. It allows caregivers to chart and document patient treatment at the point of care, manage physician orders and patient lists, send e-mail and capture charges. The application can serve as a bedside coach, providing protocols to help guide caregivers' treatments through an interactive, decision support process. Its calculation engine is a configurable tool that performs date differentials, retrieves historical data and provides automatic conversions. In a standard configuration, MediLinks PDA maintains a log of all users, prompts the user for a password when logging in, restricts access by function and user, and stores audit trail information in a database journal.
