Web-based CIS access - New Products & Services - Brief Article

Health Management Technology, Jan, 2004

MData Desktop, a Web-based extension of MData Enterprise System, offers clinicians real-time remote access to patient information from their office or home, on any desktop or tablet PC. It resides on the hospital's network and can be accessed by authorized users who go to a unique Web address and login with their user ID and password. A secure sockets layer (SSL) can be configured to ensure that all communication is encrypted. Data requests are sent to the MData Staging Database via the MData Desktop Web server, where queries are responded to immediately. Features include site-specific patient census lists based on user, physician practice or unit geography, the presentation of lab and test results in linear fashion, and displays of active and discontinued medications.
