Aim Study Seeks To Unravel Inefficiencies In Healthcare Industry - Industry Trend or Event - Brief Article

Health Management Technology, July, 1999

Share-Tech is a collaborative program designed to streamline processes, improve quality, and reduce costs in healthcare facilities. Sponsored in part by AIM, Inc., the global trade association for the Automatic Identification and Data Capture (AIDC) industry, "Operation and Usage Assessment" will gauge current implementation level of AIDC technologies such as barcode and wireless communications within two hundred-plus-bed hospitals. Healthcare providers from all departments including patient care, pharmacy, medical records, materials management, information systems, and human resources are encouraged to participate in the program.

In addition to assessing operation and usage of AIDC technologies within patient care facilities, the program will focus heavily on education and awareness. The Share-Tech program will include focus groups, phone seminars, market awareness, and market development activities designed to uncover obstacles keeping hospitals from implementing proven cost-saving technologies. Once these roadblocks are understood, the program will continue with a focus toward helping hospitals effectively implement appropriate technologies.

The assessment may be found and completed online at www.idsystmes.com/sharetech/ Health.html. Hard copies may be requested from Karen Longe & Associates, Inc., at 847-615-5421.
