Accenture acquiring Capgemini's healthcare practice

Health Management Technology, July, 2005

Accenture is buying the North American healthcare practice of European consulting firm Capgemini LLC for $175 million. Both consulting firms are based in New York. Six hundred Capgemini professionals, including about 70 clinicians, will join Accenture, bringing Accenture's total workforce in the North American healthcare and life sciences arenas to more than 4,600.

The acquisition combines Accenture's experience working with health plans, life sciences companies and government organizations with Capgemini's experience with hospitals and health systems. The acquisition was expected to close 60 days to 90 days after the April 20 announcement.
