High Tech Docs Recognized - Company Business and Marketing

Health Management Technology, August, 2001

Microsoft has sponsored the Industry Solution Awards for Healthcare for the last seven years. This program awards independent software vendors who best utilize Microsoft technology-specifically Windows 2000 Server and SQL Server 7.0 or higher-to provide tangible business benefits to healthcare organizations.

Contestants will compete in seven categories. Finalists will be highlighted and winners announced at Windows on Healthcare 2001 in San Diego, Oct. 29 to Nov. 1, 2001, at the San Diego Convention Center.

New this year is the Microsoft Physician of the Year Award. Physicians are uniquely positioned to improve the quality of patient care through their use of technology. To recognize excellence in this role, Microsoft Corp. has launched this new award category as part of the Windows on Healthcare 2001 annual conference. The Microsoft Physician of the Year Award will be presented annually to the practicing physician who innovatively applies technology to improve patient care or practice efficiency.

Each year's award will carry a theme. The 2001 theme is "The Mobile Physician." The award committee will accept self-nominations from practicing physicians or nominations from CIOs, CMOs and CMIOs of healthcare institutions. Only submissions relating to this year's theme and incorporating Microsoft technologies will be accepted. The judging panel of physician leaders and domain experts will favor submissions involving software applications that are readily available to other practicing physicians.

Submission deadline is Sept. 6, 2001. Submissions must be made via the Web at www.microsoft.com/business/. Three finalists and the award recipient will be notified by Sept. 28, 2001. A Microsoft executive will announce the winner during a keynote address on Oct. 30 at the Windows on Healthcare 2001 Conference.
