IBC supports decision support. Independence Blue Cross of Pennsylvania has broadened its agreement with McKesson Corp. to use the company's InterQual clinical decision support tools. The three-year agreement includes additional InterQual criteria sets and browser-based software to access the criteria and help streamline workflow.

About 50 percent of Blues organizations nationwide use the evidence-based InterQual Criteria to support level-of-care decisions and care planning. In Pennsylvania, 15 payer organizations and more than half the hospitals use the criteria.
