Zixcorp acquires PocketScript

ZixCorp acquires PocketScript. Zix Corp., Dallas, has formed a strategic agreement to acquire substantially all the assets of Ohio-based PocketScript LLC, a provider of electronic prescription solutions. The acquisition launches ZixCorp into the rapidly growing e-prescription marketplace. Last year, 3.14 billion prescriptions were written, and that number is expected to reach 4 billion by 2004, according to the National Association of Chain Drug Stores.

"The demand for e-prescribing is being driven by the healthcare industry's need to increase patient safety, reduce costs and save time for both pharmacists and prescribers," said ZixCorp CEO John A. Ryan.
