Remote care videoconferencing - New Products & Services

Health Management Technology, Sept, 2003

The Intern II combines a TANDBERG 880 video system with an IV-stand design to create a self-contained mobile videoconferencing system with a wide-angle camera, microphone, speaker and monitors for clinical applications such as remote consultations, rural healthcare and emergency response. It utilizes two 15-inch flat-screen LCDs that fold together for storage and transportation, and it has a shelf for the connection of peripheral devices including a laptop, medical imaging equipment and additional cameras. Users can view records or images on one display and an off-site healthcare professional on the second display. The Intern II can join up to four video sites and one audio site with embedded MultiSite functionality. Designed to meet UL 2601-1 and CSA 601.1 safety standards including FCC-A emission standards, it has a bandwidth of up to 768 kbps on IP and 384 kbps on ISDN networks. Encryption is built into the system's codec. TANDBERG, New York
