Columbia College Chicago's Office of Community Arts Partnerships (OCAP) has received grants totaling $2.5 million to ensure that students and teaching artists will continue to have the opportunity to take their education outside the traditional classroom and into Chicago's communities. First-time funding from the U.S.

Department of Education's Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education ($509,500) joins continued support from Polk Bros. Foundation ($110,000), Bank One ($750,000, Saturday Scholars Program) and the Campaign for Community Schools ($220,000 from Bank One). A prestigious Learn & Serve America Higher Education grant for $125,000 will support actions to link academic departments and student support organizations with community organizations. OCAP also has received support from the Rockefeller PACT for $150,000 and Nathan Cummings Foundations for $100,000.
