UGA Celebrates 40 Years of Integration - University of Georgia - Brief Article

University of Georgia President Michael Adams, Charlayne Hunter-Gault, Marilyn Holmes (widow of Hamilton Holmes) and Georgia Gov. Roy Barnes unveil a historical plaque detailing the desegregation of UGA in 1961 when Holmes and Hunter were enrolled as the first Black students on the Athens campus. The building behind the plaque was officially renamed the Hunter-Holmes Academic Building.
