California State University-Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) received a $1.1 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education to help students from disadvantaged backgrounds pursue their doctoral studies. In addition, CSUDH's School of Education received a $75,000 grant from the Hearst Foundation to help students complete teacher preparation courses faster and find jobs in "hard-to-staff" local schools.
The grant helps the university's efforts to award scholarships to deserving students who pursue teaching as a vocation.
