Bowie State University in Bowie, Md., has received $220,000 from the U.S. Department of the Interior for the preservation and restoration of the Goodloe House, the original homestead of the first president of Bowie State University.

Cleveland State University's College of Education has been selected by the U.S. Department of Education to receive a three-year grant of $1,118,551 under the Preparing Tomorrow's Teachers to Use Technology program.

Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pa., received a $225,374 grant from the Fund for the Improvement of Post-Secondary Education for a new community immersion program linking the predominantly White college with two historically Black institutions -- Spelman College in Atlanta and Xavier University in New Orleans.

Hampton University in Hampton, Va., received $150,000 from the Starr Foundation for student scholarships. In addition, Hampton received a $1 million matching grant gift from the Bush Foundation. The foundation will match dollar-for-dollar up to $1 million in cash donations that Hampton receives through June 2003.

Huston-Tillotson College in Austin, Texas, received $525,000 from alumnus Robert G. Stanton for the restoration and renovation of the Old Administration Building.

Miami-Dade Community College received a $200,000 grant from WorldCom to establish a computer lab in the inner-city neighborhood of Overtown, Miami.

Saint Augustine's College's Division of Education in Raleigh, N.C., received a $300,000 grant from the Bush Foundation to create a faculty development component that will train faculty in the use of technology as an avenue for improving student learning.
