The California State University, Dominguez Hills' School of Education has been awarded a $799,970 federal grant to recruit and prepare teachers to work with students with mild to moderate disabilities.
City College of San Francisco has established a Real Estate Education Center in its School of Business using funds from an $85,000 grant from the chancellor's office of the California Community Colleges.
The Community College of Baltimore's Educational Talent Search program received a four-year grant of $300,000 from the Department of Education to continue to provide academic, career and personal counseling.
Florida Memorial College and Florida International University received a five-year $1.5 million grant funded by the National Science Foundation. The collaborative grant will enhance the computer science programs at both institutions while making a provision for FMC students to pursue postgraduate studies at FIU.
Saint Augustine's College (N.C.) received a $5,000 grant from the Central North Carolina Chapter of the American Red Cross, winning the "Greatest Improvement Award" for working with the Red Cross to promote the need for minority blood donors.
The University of Mississippi Medical Center has received two grants totaling nearly $4 million from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Approximately $2.23 million will be used for research in psychiatric neuroscience. An additional $1.7 million will be used for a study and research at the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute.
Virginia Union University will receive 875,000 over three years from the Kern Family Foundation of Waukesha, Wis., to train five students enrolled full-time in the university's School of Theology program.
