DR. JUDY A. ALSTON has been appointed chair of the Program in Educational Administration and Supervision at Bowling Green State University in Ohio. She is also an assistant professor in the program. Alston earned a bachelor's degree from Winthrop College in South Carolina, two master's degrees from the University of South Carolina and a doctorate from Pennsylvania State University.

DR. JILL BARGONETTI, professor of biological sciences at Hunter College in New York, recently received the Mayor's Award for Excellence in Science and Technology (Young Investigator Category) from Mayor Rudolph Giuliani. Bargonetti earned a bachelor's from the State University of New York at Purchase and both a master's and a doctorate from New York University.

DR. A. TOY CALDWELL-COLBERT has been named provost and chief academic officer at Howard University in Washington effective July 1. Caldwell-Colbert is currently the associate vice president for academic affairs at the University of Illinois. A board-certified clinical psychologist, Caldwell-Colbert earned a bachelor's from Spelman College and master's and doctorate degrees from the University of Georgia.

MIRANDA CARLISLE has been named Southern Company Minority Engineering Program Coordinator by the University of Alabama College of Engineering. Carlisle will help recruit minority students and help them obtain degrees. Previously, she was coordinator for the Head Start Division of Community Service Programs of West Alabama. Carlisle earned a bachelor's from the University of Alabama.

RUSSELL HOLLOWAY has been named associate dean for corporate and industrial relations, a new post, at Duke University's Pratt School of Engineering. Previously, Holloway was director of information processing at the Roses Stores Division of Variety Wholesalers Inc. Holloway earned a bachelor's degree from Talladega College and a master's from Duke University.

DR. TONIA KATES-STEWART has been appointed assistant to the president for diversity at Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine's Office of Diversity and Multicultural Affairs in Rootstown. She holds a bachelor's degree in journalism, a master's in speech communication and a doctorate in interpersonal and public communication from Bowling Green State University.
