Baton Rouge Community College (La.) received an $800,000 grant from the federal Temporary Assistance to Needy Families program to underwrite the cost of tuition, books and supplies, and to provide transportation and childcare for low-income parents who want to take video production and video editing classes.

Chicago State University's College of Business received a $50,000 grant from the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation to develop new entrepreneurship initiatives aimed at bridging the entrepreneurial divide.

Emory University's Candler School of Theology (Ga.) has received a four-year, $2.18 million grant from the Lilly Endowment Inc. for its Youth Theological Initiative, a theology center dedicated to the research and theological education of youth.

Savannah State University (Ga.) received $25,000 from the Savannah State University Community Booster Club Inc. The funds will be used to support the athletic program and its scholars.

The University of Colorado at Boulder received $3 million from Raymond and Dorothy Joyce to establish an endowed chair in finance at the university's Leeds School of Business.

The University of Miami's medical school has received a $9 million grant from the National Parkinson Foundation to develop its Parkinson's disease program into a world-class research center.

Yale University's Bright Beginnings program (Conn.) received a $25,000 grant from the Community Foundation for Greater New Haven to help maintain the program and to replicate its success throughout the Greater New Haven community.
